Practical! How to inspect the cutting quality of the laser cutting machine?

The quality of the laser cutting machine mainly depends on the quality of the cutting, which is the most direct way to inspect the quality of the equipment. For new customers, when buying equipment, they will first see the proofing of laser cutting samples. Besides looking at the cutting speed of the device, that is to see the cutting quality of the sample, so how do we see the cutting quality and what aspects should we pay attention to? Below to give you a detailed introduction, the following 9 standards are considered.

1. Roughness

The laser cutting section will form a vertical pattern. The depth of the pattern determines the roughness of the cutting surface. The more shallow the lines are, the more smooth the cutting section is. Roughness not only affects the appearance of the edges, but also affects the friction characteristics. In most cases, the roughness should be reduced as much as possible, so the lighter the texture is, the higher the cutting quality is.

2. Verticality

The thickness of the sheet metal is more than 10mm, and the perpendicularity of the cutting edge is very important. Away from the focus, the laser beam becomes divergent, and the cutting is broadened at the top or bottom, according to the position of the focus. The cutting edge deviates from the vertical line a few millimeters, the more vertical the edge, the higher the quality of cutting.

3. Cutting width

The width of incision does not affect the quality of cutting generally. The width of cutting only has a significant influence only when the contour is particularly sharp, because the width of cut determines the minimum inner meridian of the contour, and the width of cutting increases with the increase of the thickness of the sheet. So to ensure the same high precision, no matter how large the width of the incision, the workpiece in the laser cutting machine processing area should be constant.

4. Cutting Lines

When the thick plate is cut at high speed, the molten metal will not appear in the incision below the vertical laser beam, instead it will be sprayed at the rear of the laser beam. As a result, a curved laser line is formed on the edge of cutting. A laser beam closely follows the movement. In order to correct this problem, reducing the feed rate at the end of cutting can greatly eliminate the formation of texture.

5. Cutting Burr

The formation of burrs is a very important factor that determines the quality of laser cutting, because the removal of burrs needs extra work, so the severity and the number of burrs can directly judge the quality of cutting.

6. Material deposition

A special liquid containing oil on the surface of the workpiece was first touched on the surface of the workpiece before the laser cutting machine began to melt and perforate. During the cutting process, the customers use the wind to remove the incisions due to the gasification and the various materials, but it will also be deposited on the surface.

7. Depressions and corrosion

Depression and corrosion have adverse effects on the surface of the cutting edge, affecting the appearance. They appear in the general cutting error that should be avoided.

8. Heat affected area

In laser cutting, the area is heated along the area near the incision. At the same time, the structure of metal changes. For example, some metals will harden. The heat affected area refers to the depth of the region where the internal structure changes.

9. Deformation

If the cutting causes the component to be heated sharply, it will deform. This is particularly important in fine processing, because the outline and connector here are usually only a few millimeters wide. The control of laser power and the use of short laser pulses can reduce the heat of the components and avoid the deformation.
